Color vs. Black & White
It is natural for business owners to believe color copying is still too expensive to do themselves, and why shouldn’t they…majority of business owners use either a fulfillment center like Kinkos™, or a small desktop color printer they originally purchased to keep costs down.
Unfortunately, using these options for your color needs costs close to 10x more than they have to.
- Did you know the average color copy/print at Kinkos™ is $.89, for a single page?
- Did you know using the typical desktop color copier/printer/faxing system costs between $.35-$.75 per single page?
It’s no wonder business owners think color copying and printing is expensive…it is when it’s done this way!
We’re Here to Tell You Times Have Changed!
Let’s start with technology itself. You’ve undoubtedly noticed that almost all types of technology keeps getting better. Things are getting faster, easier, smaller, and cheaper. Copiers and printers have followed suit…
Many people are still unaware that you can now have a color copier system for the same price as a black & white system!
Of course the color ink/toner cost’s more than just the black ink/toner does. However, when the technology is set-up properly to meet an office’s printing/copying needs you can get those color prints down to as low as $.06 per single page. Effectively reducing your color copying cost by 90% percent! This can add up to some very significant dollars in your pocket over the course of a year.
(not to mention if you lease the machine with a maintenance program built in, usually your ink/toner is built in as well further reducing your overall costs)
Here are some things you can do to further reduce your color copying costs
ü Default your system to black & white, and force users to choose the color option only when needed. This can be done for copying, printing, and scanning functions.
ü Restrict color functionality to particular users inside your organization
ü Use toner systems instead of inkjet systems
Note: 1 gallon of HP Ink costs over $4500. No wonder HP calls this stuff “Liquid Gold”.
Network a single Color Copier for ALL copying and printing needs. The toner in the copiers (versus color ink) significantly reduces the per page printing cost that you would spend on a desktop color printer.
Let us give you an example of what is possible. We recently had a client that used 1 desktop color printer, 2 networked black & white printers, and an office black & white copier. They were spending $672 per month in ink for the 3 machines, and $125 a month for the black & white copier lease and maintenance plan.
We replaced all four machines with a multifunctional device, which does both color and black & white. It faxes, scans, prints, and copies. The new lease amount was $489 per month, which included unlimited maintenance & parts, and a toner package. That is a savings of $308 per month. On a 3 year lease, that represents an $11,088 savings! Not to mention, the increase in productivity the business is experiencing from the additional functionality of their new copier.
So if you are still undecided or unsure about which direction (black & white versus color) is best for you, then contact one of our representatives to help you make sure it is the right choice for your business.
