FAQ’s


1.  What’s the difference between ink and toner?

Ink is a liquid and toner is a dry powder. Ink is commonly used in small printers designed for home use.  Toner is used primarily for business copiers and in all laser printers.

 2. What’s included in a service contract?

The majority of service contracts include toner, supplies, service, maintenance, and tech support. Paper and staples are supplied by you.

 3.  What’s the difference between renting and leasing?

Renting is for a temporary basis, like renting a car for a particular time frame.  However, leasing is a financed purchase, like leasing a car.

 4.  Do I own my copier at the end of the lease?

It depends on the type of lease. In a “fair market value lease” or “FMV”, in order to own the copier you would owe the remaining value.  This amount varies but generally most copiers are returned at the end of a “FMV lease”. A “lease to own” or “$1 buyout lease” would allow you own the copier after your last lease payment.

 5.  Can I have a service contract if I’m not in a lease?

Yes, a service contract can be separate from a lease.

 6. How do I request a service call?

 7.  What is your average service call response time?

This will vary depending on the time of day the request is made. A 4:00pm request could be serviced the next day. Our phone support is available during business hours. In addition you can visit our video library for small trouble shooting video tips.

 8.  Why should I buy a color copier?

If you print any number of color documents, a color copier could potentially save you money.  In addition, color copiers have many productivity advantages over B&W because of the technology advancements included in these systems.

 9.  Do you sell toner?

Yes, we stock toner for every copier we sell and service, and we can order toner for any other machine that we may not stock for.

 10.  Do you stock parts and supplies?

Yes.  We stock all supplies and thousands of OEM parts.

 11. Do you sell used copiers?

Yes, we have a variety of low meter, refurbished color and B&W copiers.

12. What’s the advantage of new vs. used copiers?

The easy answer is – new copiers offer the latest technology while used copiers offer functionality at a lower price. However, there are a number of reasons your business may need to chose one or the other so it is best to discuss those issues with a account executive. 

 13. What happens at the end of my lease?

The short of it is…it depends!  Most leases you can return the equipment at the address listed on the contracts.  If you would like to keep the equipment then you will need to pay whatever your contractual remaining balance is.

 14. Can I get out of a lease?

You are obligated to fulfill the obligations of a lease by making all the required payments.  However, remaining payments can easily be reduced or rolled into the purchase of a new copier. This can be helpful when your existing copier on lease has excessive service issues or no longer meets your office’s needs.

 15. Why should I buy from an authorized dealer?

The most important reason is that Authorized dealers have factory trained technicians and manufacturer product support. In addition, only an authorized dealer has approval from a manufacturer to repair, service, and sell their products.

 16. What manufacturers are you authorized to sell and service?

Canon, Kyocera, HP, Okidata, Samsung, and IBM

 17.  Who do I call about billing?

19. Can I monitor individual use of a copier?

Many digital copiers have account management. This can be helpful to restrict access and monitor usage. 

 20. Do all copiers print?

Most digital copiers do print but for specifics please call us.  Network printing is standard on all new copiers and Multifunctional Peripheral System.

21. Do you charge for scanning?

No

 22. Is color expensive?

The more color output, the lower the cost of operation.  Color costs range from $0.06 – $ 0.09 per page

 23. What is a commercial copier?

A commercial copier is more efficient and has a lower cost of operation than a copier purchased at a retail store.

 24. Why should I buy from you vs. a retail store?

Retail stores sell devices that utilize high cost toner, ink based units, and expensive supplies.  We sell commercial devices that have a substantial lower cost of operation.

 25. What are OEM parts?

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer.  We use only OEM parts for all repairs and service.  Inferior, non OEM parts can cause damage and increase service issues in a copier.

26. What’s the advantage of a local dealer?

As a local dealer we have a vested interest in our community and our customers. Not looking beyond the local market allows us to focus on providing the best possible service and support to our customer base.

 27. Why can’t I find the price of a copier?

Like most technology, copiers have advanced to include a wide variety of options and functionality. The price of a copier can vary widely depending on your specific needs.

 28. Is generic toner ok?

Generic toner can void warranties and service contracts, you should contact an account executive if there are additional questions about generic toner.

 29. How do I know my copy volume?

They are several ways to determine the amount of pages you are printing or copying.  You can measure the meter for a set period of time, keep track of paper reams added to a device, or give us a call for more specific details.

30. How important is paper quality?

It can be important depending on the weight of the paper and the speed at which it passes through a copier.  Poor quality paper can increase the amount of paper jams that occur.

 31. What kind of stapling/ collating do you have?

Stapling, sorting, folding, saddle stitching, and booklet making are options we offer on new systems.

 32. What speed of copier should I get?

Each business’s set of needs are different, and should be evaluated on an individual basis.  There are drawbacks to faster machines. Most copiers are between 20-60 pages per minute.

 33. How easy is it to scan?

Scanning has been streamlined to be a simple one step process.  Operator training is included in the purchase of all new and used copiers. In addition, we have a tips & tricks section in our video library that we are expanding all the time.

34. Do all copiers make two sided copies?

Most all copiers make two sided or duplex copies.  Some older copiers, fax machines, and printers do not.

35. Can I reduce and enlarge original documents?

All of our new and used copiers will reduce and enlarge an original document.  Most machines have both the ability to reduce at a already designated set percentage or customized to fit your particular need.

36. What size paper can I use?

Paper sizes range from 3.5” x 5” to 12” x 18”

 37. What is a multi-purpose or bypass tray?

It is the tray on the side of the system used to copy or print on paper that is not in a paper cassette.  It’s commonly used for thick paper, letterhead, envelopes, and odd sized paper.  The tray will hold between 1 – 100 sheets of paper depending on the model.

 38. Is end user training included in a purchase?

Yes, we will train your key operators and end users.

 39. Do you have “over the phone” troubleshooting?

Yes, during office hours.  In addition, we have a complete video troubleshooting section on our website for your review.

 40. Do you have copiers that will fax?

Yes, a fax option is available on many models.

 41. What is a MFP?

Multi Functional Peripheral

42. How is a digital copier different from a MFP?

A digital copier is primarily a copier that most likely has options such as print and fax abilities.  A MFP typically comes standard with such options.
